Did you attend this year’s Group Leisure & Travel Show? Relive the highlights in this special Video Review of the 2018 exhibition.
The exhibition was another successful event and had both visitors and exhibitors describing it as “great for ideas” and “extremely helpful”.
Held in Hall 19 of Birmingham’s NEC on 11th October, the travel show saw more than 200 exhibitors from across the group travel industry and coach tourism sector come together to showcase what they can offer to group travel organisers.
Finding inspiration at the show
At the Group Leisure & Travel Show, GTOs and coach operators were able to meet with like-minded people, as well visit exhibitor stands that included accommodation providers, tour operators, cruise lines, theatre productions, attractions and more.
Deals were done, dates were penned into diaries and GTOs walked away with inspiration for at least another year of group trips and holidays.
Celebrity line-up
The show involved a line-up of celebrity speakers in its popular Seminar Theatre. This year’s speakers included tv personality Gyles Brandreth, travel editor of The Independent Simon Calder, and celebrity gardener Carol Klein.
After a popular session in 2017 Simon Calder returned this year and described the show as “really interesting”, adding: “You get the whole spectrum – GTOs doing great things in the UK and abroad to visitor attractions, destinations and hotels.
“It’s an atmosphere that’s very warm, very friendly and it’s great for networking and doing deals – and to see what the opposition is doing.”
Watch the Video Review and hear more from Simon along with the other seminar speakers, visitors and exhibitors about why the show was such a hit.
A word from the Show Director…
GLT Show Director, Graham Yandell said: “It’s always a privilege and a pleasure to bring people together at this event. Once again we’ve had a hugely successful day and I would like to thank the visitors who attended and our exhibitors who did such a fantastic job helping us put together the group travel sector’s leading show.”
Next year’s Group Leisure & Travel Show at Milton Keynes
The Group Leisure & Travel Show 2019 will take place at a new venue on Thursday 10th October at Stadium MK, Milton Keynes.
Organisers say there has already been a “fantastic response” to the announcement of the new venue with almost 40% of stands already booked.
GLT Awards Dinner combines with the show yet again
The black-tie Group Leisure & Travel Magazine Awards dinner will be staged the previous evening on Wednesday 9th October, 2019 at the Hilton Hotel, which is immediately adjacent to the stadium and halls. The two events combine to create the biggest two days for the group travel calendar each year.
