Hudson’s UK
For heritage sites near you
Hudson’s UK is your guide to historic sites and heritage days out wherever you are in the UK. It’s free to download and the data is fully cached on the phone so you don’t need a signal to use it.
This app is a good one for groups. As well as being able to find a mix of famous palaces and stately homes, ancient castles and gardens from one screen, the user can search for upcoming events, exhibitions, tours and special openings. Clicking on the map will bring up full details of admission times and prices, as well as other useful information.
Tripit
For itinerary organisation
A bit like a pocket travel agent, Tripit pulls together travel information from your confirmation emails for flights, hotels, rental cars, and events bookings and converts it into a single itinerary.
The user can forward their emails to the app and it will do the rest. Tripit allows you to easily share the plans, making this a useful app for coordinating a group trip and ensuring your group members have easy access to the information about where they’re meant to be.

Moovit is a free universal public transport app, featuring live arrival and departure times, updated line schedules, local station maps, service alerts and advisories that might affect a trip.
The app uses schedule-based transport information from local public transport agencies and mixes in real-time data about current times and conditions from other riders en route nearby.
