Wondering whether to attend this year’s Group Leisure & Travel Show? The numbers from last year’s exhibition revealed how successful it was for both visitors and exhibitors.

The research carried out following the 2018 GLT Show, which took place in October, has confirmed that the annual exhibition remains a strong choice across the group travel and coach tourism sector.

Hundreds of group travel organisers and coach tour operators attended the successful event which was held at the NEC in Birmingham.

Our survey results have indicated the following:

  • 91% of visitors said the GLT Show gave them good ideas and helped them to plan future trips and holidays.
  • 89% of visitors said they met the right type of exhibitors at the event.
  • 86% of visitors said that their show experience was good or very good.

Commenting on the findings, show director Graham Yandell, said: “It’s always great to receive such positive feedback from visitors, especially as we work so hard to ensure that the Group Leisure & Travel Show remains the number one annual event for group organisers and coach operators.

“The response to our new venue for the 2019 show, the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, has been overwhelming with both visitors and exhibitors very excited about the location and the opportunities it will bring.”

The statistics from the survey also provided an interesting insight into the type of trips group travel organisers plan for their members and the average size of their group.

It found that more than a third are interested in theatre trips while day trips and short breaks make up a substantial amount of group visits. Almost a fifth of those who responded said they were interested in cruise holidays while more than 15% said their main focus was long-haul experiences.

Yandell added: “Of course, our typical visitor has huge buying power and represents a vast database of different memberships for all types of organisations, clubs and businesses. Just one visitor to the show can influence the plans of dozens or hundreds, or even thousands of travellers. For group travel it remains the one day in the calendar not to be missed!”
