The Seminar Theatre is always a focal point of the Group Leisure & Travel Show and offers everyone the chance to listen to celebrity experts, and even ask their own questions on a range of subjects. We asked some of the GLT Show and Magazine team who they had really enjoyed listening to over the years:
1. Travel journalist & broadcaster Simon Calder – 2019
“A staple of the Group Leisure & Travel Show seminar theatre, Simon always manages to get his talks spot on, providing the latest travel trends as well as entertaining visitors. I especially enjoyed his 2019 talk about his 25 years in travel. He shared some fascinating stories of his experiences over the years which inspired me to seek out more adventures – I’m just not sure about the hitch-hiking part!
Keeley Rodgers, GLT editor
2. Antiques expert & TV personality Eric Knowles – 2016
“A difficult choice because we’ve had some brilliant speakers over the years dealing with all sorts of topics. However, I particularly remember enjoying Eric Knowles, a regular pundit on Antiques Roadshow. He talked about venues for groups interested in history and antiques.
“Eric is hugely knowledgeable and has an easy-going humorous style. The audience was enjoying every minute and he spent time afterwards engaging with visitors and signing autographs.”
Graham Yandell, GLT Show director
3. Garden designer & TV presenter Chris Beardshaw – 2017
“With garden visits so popular, a talk from Chris Beardshaw in 2017 was just perfect. The theatre has welcomed a number of garden experts over the years but I particularly enjoyed listening to Chris who is known for TV programmes such as Gardeners’ World, Hidden Gardens and the hugely popular The Flying Gardener.
“Not only was his enthusiasm for the topic infectious but he shared so many ideas for places to visit, you would need years to see them all.”
Rob Yandell, GLT Magazine publisher
