Simon Calder has been announced as the first celebrity speaker at the 2019 Group Leisure & Travel Show taking place on 10th October at Stadium MK in Milton Keynes.
The travel editor of The Independent is a regular household name at the GLT Show and his seminar session at last year’s event, held in October at the NEC in Birmingham, was very popular with visitors.
Those attending the 2019 show in Milton Keynes can expect more expert advice from Simon, who last year shared his travel tips, including where to go outside of Europe (in light of Brexit) and essential information about passport expiry dates and travel insurance details.
What Simon said about GLT Show in 2018:
- “It’s a really interesting event because you get the whole spectrum; group travel organisers doing great things in the UK and overseas to visitor attractions and hotels.”
- “It’s an atmosphere which is very warm, very friendly.”
- “The show is great for networking, doing deals and seeing what the opposition is doing.”

Simon previously commented that the travel industry was “devoted to human happiness” and in an interview with Group Leisure & Travel Magazine he shared his optimism for travel adding: “We are living at a time when we have the widest horizons of every generation and people have the freedom to go to places.”
Details of the other two speakers at the forthcoming 2019 event will be revealed in due course.
